2011 Toyota Auris HSD Review

Designed exclusively for the European market, the Toyota Auris HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) introduced hybrid technology to complete a basic model in the center of the Toyota lineup. This marks the first step in deploying the full range HSD technology company in Europe in the early 2020s.

Built in the UK, Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK Blackburn Aston factory, the objectives of a significant change in view of customers' entire hybrid propulsion technology.

The prospect of Britain - and Europe - the first model of home-produced full hybrid has been welcomed by the British government. Business Minister Ian Lucas said: "I am pleased that Toyota has chosen its plants in the United Kingdom to produce the first hybrid car from Toyota Europe, and I look forward to seeing it when I'm in Geneva Motor Show, the commitment Toyota to cut CO2 emissions. gives new impetus to our vision for the United Kingdom to lead the design, manufacture and use of low carbon cars. "

Beyond the benefits of exceptional fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions, which are inherent to the Hybrid Synergy Drive, the new Toyota Auris HSD used for everyday driving comfort and quiet for a remarkable experience and cool sophisticated behavior is unlike anything else in the C-segment.

Toyota Auris HSD will be available in two levels: 89 g / km and 92g/km, both offering the lowest CO2 emissions and more powerful fuel economy in their class. HSD will play an important role in reducing the overall Toyota European fleet CO2 emissions on average. These have already fallen by 14g/km between 2008 and 2009 to 132g/km thanks to the introduction of Toyota Optimal Drive.

    Appearance

Toyota Auris HSD adopts new exterior design has presented a model range Auris 2010, including a redesigned interface. It also shows a model number of features that enhance the car's aerodynamic efficiency and the reference to the presence of Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain.

The upper grille opening has been optimized to promote good air circulation in the upper body and lower grille has been more important to reduce air resistance and improve the efficiency of cooling.

With a revised configuration fog lamp that corrects the flat surface and vertical airflow around the front bumper, passing over the front wheels, helping to minimize turbulence in the wheel wells.

Further improvement of aerodynamic efficiency is achieved by a ground clearance reduced by 5 mm; specific wheel caps integrating aerodynamics, tires with low rolling resistance, and a large, roof-mounted rear spoiler. Work together to smooth and control the flow of air over the car, these design changes reduce the HSD-specific drag coefficient Cd0.290 to 0.283, which helps reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

    Interior Design

The interior has a number of changes, including a revised instrument cockpit where the tachometer has been replaced by a monitor Eco Drive Assist. The information panel center line contains additional information such as HSD-specific energy flows and screens Eco Drive Score.

A hybrid blue Smart Start button has been added to the side of the dashboard and center console contains amendments to parking control and EV, ECO and eating patterns and a shift lever shift-by-wire.

The lighting changes to show the greenish white numbers on a blue background in the hybrid panel meters, and audio controls for heating, and Smart Start, the mode switch unit and parking control.

A choice of model-specific upholstery available: a blue dot fabric or leather panels Alcantara surround.

    Hybrid Synergy Drive

Toyota Auris HSD is a full hybrid capable of operating in gasoline and electric modes alone or a combination of both. Its Hybrid Synergy Drive offers energy saving properties of a series hybrid, combined with the performance benefits of a parallel hybrid.

Technology brings the power, smooth acceleration and remarkably quiet time with the fuel consumption of first class, and CO2 emissions of 89 g / km and 74.3mpg.

Toyota Hybrid Synergy latest driver uses a gasoline engine VVT-i 1.8-liter, a powerful electric motor, generator, a battery and a power supply high-performance control. A device for power distribution of a planetary gear system combines power and reassigned the engine, electric motor and generator operational needs of the car.

The key to the proper installation of the Toyota Auris front engine series is an electric motor, generator and power split device is placed in a single measure of the transmission housing is a normal transmission. Seamless E-CVT continuously variable transmission is controlled by an electronic shift-by-wire with the e-brake handle.

The lightweight and compact four-cylinder, 1798 cc VVT-i Atkinson cycle develops 97bhp at 5,200 rpm and 142Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. High performance permanent magnet synchronous 60 kW electric motor generates a peak of 207Nm between zero and 13,000 rpm.

Driven by the battery of the hybrid system, the electric motor works in tandem with the gasoline engine to increase the acceleration in normal driving. When the car is running in EV (electric vehicle) mode, it can not drive the wheels.

During deceleration and braking, the electric motor acts as a high generator power for the effect of regenerative braking, kinetic energy recovery, which is usually in the form of heat and electrical energy storage battery.

In combination, the gasoline engine and electric motor output of the system generated a maximum power of 134bhp, which deliver results to match a conventional petrol or 2.0-liter diesel sedan. By contrast, Toyota Auris HSD reduce CO2 emissions and significantly lower NOx emissions from diesel vehicles of comparable performance.

Also, once connected to the EV-mode function, it will cut emissions of CO2 and NOx emissions to zero, the drive up to 1.3 km (2 miles) up to 31 mph (50 km), depending on the level of the battery and driving conditions.

Toyota Auris HSD eco driving experience

Toyota Auris HSD has four driving modes, three of which can be chosen "on-demand," the driver to maximize the transmission properties HSD and provide support eco-guide for those who want to embrace eco-driving style.

EV mode allows extremely quiet operation of electricity in an isolated place, with zero fuel consumption and emissions. ECO mode to maximize efficiency and fuel economy and power to improve system performance. In addition, Eco Drive Monitor helps the driver to maximize the effectiveness of HSD.

The driver can control the energy flow around the HSD system in every state through the multi-information appears on the dashboard, which helps to promote fuel efficiency, ease of driving. It 'also clear and simple power meter shows how much energy is used or produced in a given time.

Enjoy the inherent silence of the Hybrid Synergy Drive, Toyota has paid particular attention to NVH reduction measures to create a cabin environment calm and quiet at all speeds. Road and engine noise is carefully removed with extensive use of sound-proofing materials. glass windows and full-thickness windshield a multi-layer to further reduce acoustic noise are quieter at highway speeds.Source URL: http://googleinsights2011.blogspot.com/2011/05/2011-toyota-auris-hsd-review.html
