Angels & Demons
Source URL: http://googleinsights2011.blogspot.com/2011/08/angels-demons.htmlSince it was absent from Capcom's initial Gamescom list, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3's presence at the convention was considered a surprise. Another surprise game not on that list was DmC: Devil May Cry, though it probably shouldn't have been considered one since its developer, Ninja Theory, is European. Interestingly enough, quite a few gamers weren't too happy to see the game, but they were interested in seeing what new content Capcom and Ninja Theory had to show fans of the franchise. They were hoping to see some encouraging signs -- a signal indicating that maybe we were being a little too pessimistic about its chances of offering a worthwhile experience.
But that didn't happen. Instead, most of the news only confirmed fears fans had. This is not looking good.
We didn't really get to see any gameplay at E3 due to the trailer shown there making frequent cuts; its action was intentionally slowed to give it a "cinematic" flow. We were able to see uncut footage this time around, and as fans expected, it doesn't look like any of the previous games fans enjoyed. It does resemble Devil May Cry 2 in its comparatively subdued action, though, but resembling the black sheep of the franchise isn't doing this game any favors.
It's been tough for Ninja Theory and Capcom to keep their story straight about whether this is a full reboot or an origin story. This is no longer a problem, as we now have extensive details about the storyline. This Dante here -- which is being called DINO by the fanbase, meaning "Dante in Name Only" -- is the product of an angel and a demon.
